Help Us Build a Healthy Fishing Future for Women The NSW Women in Recreational Fishing Facebook group is a supportive online community for women across NSW who fish or want to learn how. Created by NSW DPIRD as part of the ‘Fish For Life’ initiative, the group brings together women to connect, learn, and grow through shared fishing experiences.
IS THIS GROUP FOR YOU?   Our members are women from all walks of life across NSW, whether they’re experienced anglers or completely new to fishing. We especially want to encourage women who are curious about fishing but may not know where to start. The group is also open to those seeking a welcoming space to build friendships and feel part of a wider fishing community.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS? The Facebook group supports participation in recreational fishing by creating an inclusive and safe space for women to ask questions, provide and seek advice, and share photos and fishing stories. Members can access opportunities like local workshops, events, and meet-ups. We highlight female role models in fishing and offer regular giveaways, practical tips, and inspiration to help women gain confidence, build skills, and feel supported throughout their fishing journey.

WHY GET INVOLVED? Fishing is a fun, healthy and rewarding way to connect with nature, reduce stress, and spend time with friends and family. By joining the group, women gain support, information and encouragement to try something new or grow their fishing skills. They’ll also help create a more balanced and inclusive fishing community in NSW for future generations.
