The Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating Network (WIRFAB), is working towards upskilling women in the world of fishing and boating. With a commitment to fostering a diverse community, we strive to provide a platform where female fishers and boaters can learn, belong, and enjoy the lifestyle and its benefits together. Established in 2018, WIRFAB was created by the Victorian Fisheries Authority in response to the need for a supportive space to share knowledge, stories, and skills about fishing. What began as a Facebook group soon evolved into a thriving community, connecting women from all walks of life and providing them with a common ground to explore the joys of recreational fishing. As we set sail into the future, we’ve broadened our horizons to encompass the world of boating. By expanding our focus, we aim to create a more inclusive and empowering environment for women, embracing new challenges and celebrating the passion for both fishing and boating.

THE GROUP IS PERFECT FOR:  This group is for female and gender-diverse fishers and boaters to share their experiences, learn from one another, and connect with like-minded individuals. This community is moderated by the Victorian Fisheries Authority and is built on a mutual agreement of kindness and respect from all members. Please read the group rules carefully when joining, as any breach will result in immediate removal.

The WIRFAB network schedules events throughout the year. The annual WIRFAB Leadership Program selects leaders who promote and support female boaters and anglers statewide through events and online platforms.
