“Being part of the Women in Recreational Fishing Network has genuinely changed the direction of my life. I landed my dream job through the connections and friendships I made through WIRFN, gained the confidence to deliver weekly radio fishing reports, and met some incredible women with whom I still fish all the time.
It’s opened doors I didn’t even know existed. I want other women to experience that same spark! To feel welcomed, supported, and inspired to take their place in the fishing world, no matter where they’re starting from”. Tahlia White
“I’ve been with WIRFN since it started in 2022, and since joining the leadership group, I’ve experienced many firsts — including entering my first women’s fishing competition, going on my first charter, employing our first female fishing instructor, and making great friends through the group.
I’ve run several fishing days for women, both through WIRFN and my own business. Being part of this program has also helped raise my profile in the industry, from sitting on an advisory board to doing a small monthly segment on the radio. I genuinely believe WIRFN has played a big part in making that happen.
What I really want is for more women to feel confident enough to take themselves fishing, to connect with other women who love it too, and to get outside and enjoy everything our outdoors lifestyle has to offer.” Sam Beckmann
“Being a part of WIRFN has been fantastic. It’s not just about the fishing, it’s about being seen, supported and inspired by other women who share the same passion as me.
When we get together, we share stories, tips, laughs, and support each other with thoughts and ideas. I would love to have a few more catch-ups with fellow leaders.
I would love to see more women feeling confident to give it a go, more beginner friendly days and a bit more fairness in how women are seen in the fishing scene, it’s not just a blokes sport-there’s plenty of room for us too.
I would love to continue to lead, teach and showcase skills in my local community, to get women’s voices out there, to keep opening doors, casting lines and cooking fish. to make it easier for future generations to enjoy the sport.” Tracy Patterson
